INTRODUCTION
9:ZERO:7 Bikes, is a brand born out of Alaska, and one of the pioneers of Fat Bike design, continually advancing the sport in many ways.
Read on to see the latest design release by 9:ZERO:7, the LYNX v2 !
From the Manufacturer :
“9:ZERO:7 was born in February of 2004 at the Susitna 100 winter endurance race in Alaska. Pushing their "fat bikes" equipped with uber-wide 44mm Snowcat rims through the night, Jamey Stull forged a friendship that ultimately resulted in the founding of Chain Reaction Cycles in Anchorage, Alaska. From this experience, Jamey and his original partner recognized both a need and a business opportunity to create a better fatbike; a fatbike that met the demands of winter cycling in Alaska."
9:ZERO:7 BIKES took their passion for fat cycling to the next level, by developing and producing one of the first aluminum fat bikes, the 9:ZERO:7, named after Alaska's only area code. From there, 9:ZERO:7 has been a leader in the "plus" market, constantly innovating to provide just the right balance of performance and price.
9:ZERO:7 BIKES was not late to the game. They helped define the game!

NOTES FROM THE MANUFACTURER
“At 9:ZERO:7, we take fat bikes very seriously. In 2013, our Carbon Whiteout led the industry in high performance racing fat bikes and we wanted to make sure that our new Lynx was an improvement on that. We worked tirelessly for two years with many sleepless nights sending countless midnight emails. We went through multiple prototypes shifting the carbon layup, adjusting the ride quality, and tweaking the geometry one millimeter at time.”
“Our 9:ZERO:7 Factory Team spent an absurd number of hours riding, testing, and wreaking havoc on the prototypes. All this to make sure that the new 9:ZERO:7 Lynx would be hands down, the best fat bike on the market. We didn't want to just make another fat bike, we wanted to introduce the best fat bike, and we weren’t going to stop until we made sure it was right. The 9:ZERO:7 Lynx is the fat bike that can truly do it all!”

Long-term 2-year review from RideFATbikes.ca
“The 9:ZERO:7 LYNX frame design is very impressive. It is light, fast, stiff, and does an admirable job of absorbing trail chatter. The choice of different colourways available each year are attractive and utilize high-quality paint. The modern frame geometry keeps the rider in an ideal power-transfer position, with well-balanced weight distribution over the bottom bracket.
The 9:ZERO:7 LYNX is ideally suited for both 4-season adventure biking, or competitive winter racing. Climbing, sprinting and descending characteristics are exceptional for a Fat Bike.”
The LYNX is available in 4 frame sizes, accommodating riders from 5ft1” up to 6ft5”, and affords maximum stand-over clearance via the strategically-shaped sloping top tube.
The LYNX frame has a chainline of 450mm, making it both agile on singletrack, while being long enough to provide maximum traction on those steep long climbs, and provides stability on the descents. The frame accommodates the most popular wheel/tire combinations from 26x4.8” to 27.5x4.2”.
Either a FAT 4 or 5 chainline is possible, with the lowest Q-factor possible (203+) for a PF121 bottom bracket
There are 9 frame attachment points for bags/gear/water bottles, plus two rear rack mounts near the rear axle. The newly-designed carbon cargo fork has 6 attachment points. There is an attachment point on the top tube, just behind the stem. It can be used to install a small feed bag, or battery holder for powerful nighttime riding lights. This is not an option on most other fat bikes, and very conveniently added to the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX.
You might not be a competitive person by nature, nor looking for a Fat bike with the potential to win races… but if you are :
“The 9:ZERO:7 LYNX is the fastest full-fat carbon rigid hardtail bike RideFATbikes.ca has ever tested, with sprint speeds in excess of 50kph on pavement (w/ 26x4.8” tires at 10PSI front / 12PSI rear w/ a 34T Oval chainring), and 40kph on beach sand (w/ 26x4.8” tires at 8PSI).
PROVEN RACE-WINNING DESIGN
9:ZERO:7 designed the LYNX as a race-inspired, 4-season adventure bike - and their generous 5-year warranty covers competition use. No wonder the LYNX has either won, or podiumed, in almost every major winter race it has entered in the last 3 years, including the grueling Alaskan ITI 350 (Tyson Flaharty and Miron Golfman) and the fast-paced Fat Bike World Championships (Josiah Middaugh) who rode his 9:ZERO:7 LYNX to victory with an average winning speed of 16.5 mph / 26.75 kph in 2022.
FOR “ROADIES” NEW TO FAT BIKING
An avid/competitive road biker/triathlete/time trialist, may be very interested in the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX when they are researching a quality fat bike for seasonal training and riding (fall/winter/spring). The LYNX offers :
the possibility of a 21-23 lbs final build weight, when using premium components. (that’s only 2-4 lbs more than your average time trial bike)
internal cable routing, clean looking frame, multiple frame attachment points for feed bags (including top tube), stiff frame design capable of providing an inspiring ride as you push the bike to higher speeds.
lowest Q-factor available for a fat bike (Q>=204) w/ 26x4.8” tires.
modern geometry that provides the ability to comfortably ride fast on paved, hardpack trails, or on your daily commute. (frame accepts larger front chainring sizes than most of the competition : up to 36T gearing = faster top-end speeds)
class-leading frame design and stiffness in the downtube/bottom bracket/chainstay that allows for very efficient power transfer, resulting in excellent sprinting, climbing and descending characteristics.
The MASSIVE (squared) downtube and huge 120mm-wide asymmetrical bottom bracket combine to produce a very inspiring and controlled ride, with excellent power transfer when you push the bike hard. (this is a huge benefit over many other fat bike designs)
The 9:ZERO:7 LYNX does not have the usual downtube, chainstay, and bottom-bracket frame flex that commonly plagues many other carbon fat bikes on the market, and that quickly sets the LYNX apart from the rest in this category (full-fat carbon). If you get the chance to take one for a test ride, the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX is bound to impress you.”
RideFATbikes.ca Rating
We rate the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX 5 out of 5 stars. The LYNX is simply the best FULL-FAT carbon rigid hardtail Fat bike we have ever tested.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
The new geometry updates provide quick, nimble, and precise handling when leaning and maneuvering the bike while maintaining stability at all speeds. In addition to bike handling improvements, the bike fit and weight distribution on the Lynx have also been improved. This is largely due to the steepened seat tube angle and longer top tube, which helps keep weight on the front tire for better front to back balance to enhance flotation as well as improve front tire traction.

9:ZERO:7 LYNX GEOMETRY
( up to 2024)
RECENT GEOMETRY UPDATES :
With the new aggressive geometry paired with our BPI (Bike Packer Integration) the Lynx is equally at home on gnarly singletrack and on multi day adventures. All our BPI equipped bikes have strategically placed bolt mounts for bolt on frame and top tube bags. No more Velcro straps to wear through your paint and carbon, our BPI compatible bikes provide an aesthetically pleasing way to carry all your adventure accessories.
Shortened 450mm chainstays
Shortened Head Tube
Low Stand-over Height
Slackened 69 degree Head Tube angle
Altered fork offset from 45mm to 48mm
Steepened 73.5 degree Seat Tube angle
Lengthened top tube to accommodate for shorter stems
ASYMMETRICAL BOTTOM BRACKET
= Increase in Frame strength and stiffness
A huge advantage of the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX frame design is the implementation of the PF121 BB standard. The wider 121mm frame allows for a massive asymmetrical bottom bracket/chainstay design, along with a wider squared downtube, that all combine for a significantly stiffer frame than competing brands (that use the BSA100 standard threaded bottom bracket) can offer with their smaller rounded/oval downtubes, and narrower 100mm carbon frames. Both designs can support a carbon crankset installation with a narrow Q-factor of 204+.
Yet, the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX (PF121) frame is 20% wider around the bottom bracket area, with a staggered chainstay arrangement that better distributes crankset loading forces, and allows larger chainrings up to 36T (compared to 30T). You can test a competing brand’s frame (also from Alaska) that uses the BSA100 standard, and then switch over to the LYNX —> the reduction in frame flex is immediately noticeable in the bottom bracket area of the 9:ZERO:7 LYNX. You can physically see the difference in the pictures below :

Entire drivetrains will have the latest 12spd components and gearing ratios, and will be consistent to the kit level (ie: GX builds will be all GX-level parts or higher, no NX parts filtered into the mix).
Wheelsets can be fully customized to meet the new owners requirements, and will be ASTM CAT3 (or higher) rated for 4-season trail use, with best in class hubs, spokes and rims utilized in the build. (providing the fastest aceleration and braking performance)
